Below is a letter that Sallie's Doctor and friend was compeled to write on the day Sallie lost her battle and left a foundation to win the war.
The Sallie Astor Burdine Breast Foundation is the oldest foundation devoted to breast cancer, and is one of the only foundations, in the United States, that helps provide comprehensive support to prostate and breast care treatment as well as research and development of new technology to improve the treatments.
The Sallie Astor Burdine Breast Foundation has received donations from across the United States and Norway, and the Foundation's focus is to support the ongoing research of the Elliott Elliott Head Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center. This comprehensive breast cancer center known around the world as a pioneer in the science of mastology and is well respected among both patients and the medical community.
The EEH center receives the continued support of the Sallie Astor Burdine Breast Foundation for the successful discovery and development of cancer vaccines and the innovative treatment of breast cancer with the use of many of these progressive technologies developed by the Baton Rouge based research and development team.
The Sallie Astor Burdine Breast Cancer Foundation (SABBF), established by Dr. Robert Elliott in 1977 as The Breast Foundation, is a non-profit organization, which accepts donations to benefit the efforts of the EEH Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center (tax #59-7800251).
